Coronavirus cases in India crossed 600 as the Indian government today unveiled a Rs 1.7 lakh crore stimulus to help those hit by the 21-day lockdown in the country. Coronavirus Pandemic LIVE Updates: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday said 88 new cases of coronavirus were reported today, the highest in a single day. The total number of cases rises to 694. The government today said the ban on international flight operations to India has been extended to April 14 in light of the national shutdown and the coronavirus epidemic. "It has been decided that scheduled international commercial passenger services shall remain closed till 6:30 am (GMT) of April 14, 2020. This will not apply to approved international all-cargo operations and flights," said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a statement.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today announced a Rs 1.7 lakh crore relief package for those hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic that has claimed 16 lives in the country. The stimulus includes Rs 50 lakh per person insurance cover for doctors, paramedic, healthcare workers dealing with coronavirus outbreak as well as 5 kg wheat or rice and 1 kg of preferred pulses for free every month for the next three months for 80 crore poor people.

An investigation has revealed that a person from Bhilwara, which has turned into the coronavirus capital of Rajasthan and from where the state's first Covid-19 death has been reported, was admitted to five different hospitals with an increasingly deteriorating condition before finally being tested positive for Coronavirus on Wednesday. Meanwhile the person, whose name is being withheld, is believed to have transmitted the disease to many other people. Suhas Munshi reports on how negligence led to Bhilwara becoming the coronavirus capital of Rajasthan.
